Unfortunate

Its funny...
I was just thinking of you
Then you called.
Remember how that always used to happen?
And instantly,
my heart broke all over again,
hearing that familiar laugh
you make when you're nervous..

I let you tell me how much you
miss me...need me...
shoulda never left me
as I release a bitter exhale

your voice becomes static
in the background,and all I
can hear are your last words
to me,9 months before
this phone call
when you left me

for her.

For her,and her green eyes
For her,and her round ass
For her,and her creamy thighs
You said it was fate,
that she was meant for you.
I told you,it would never last.

Then you started talking real fast
because you know me,
and your time
was running out.

As your conversation gathered
that fevered pitch of desperation
like the last bet on a loosing
night for a gambler
You tell me that you were wrong
you tell me that she has moved on
you tell me she has a new lover

you tell me that you and
Miss Green-Eyes are through

that you are
staying at your mother's,
and at this I smile,
I have to
your mother never deserved
a piss poor son like you.

Now my thoughts,are sharp
as I interrupt with
"Oh yeah? And how IS
your mother these days?"

You, being typical you
are left stuck, not even sure
of what to say..
"She's fine...."
and before that
damning BUT comes out of your
lying-ass mouth,
I shut you down.
I tell you Im glad to hear
that your mom is fine,
and 'look at the time'
As you stammer
for your next words
I tell you not to call again
and 'oh Im so sorry
for your luck.
Hope it all works out.'

Upon hanging up
in mid sentence
I realize that this phone call
had been all I ever wanted from you,
after everything was over.

I told you
you would regret this -
I told you so!
when all I ever wanted to do
was love you.....
