M.I.A.

I really wish that you were here with me
There're so many things I'd like you to see
Obtained my degree and we bought a house
I know that you'd of love my beautiful spouse

I've doused my emotions onto virtual pages
Ones once bottled up & detained in cages
Gone through phases & mazes to get this far
It amazes that I still smile as bright as a star

After being tarred & feathered in bad weather
The pain still festers but I'm holding together
Got an array of sweaters I don in this world
To deal with the frigid cold I've had to unfurl

You were a pearl more precious than any other
My rock and foundation who kept me from asunder
Made my fair share of blunders but your love never wavered
There was never a time where I fell out of your favor

I savor all of the loving memories of you and I
At times, the mere thought of you brings a tear to my eye
Why? Cause a portion of my heart is M.I.A.
As I impart these thoughts on your birthday
