The Demons

She moved out of the country to get away from it all,
To become the person she's always dreamt to be.
She thought she was alone and finally free,
But her demons tagged along and threw her down to her knees.
They latched onto her and now feed off her pain,
She can never catch a break; she is haunted to this day,
Her happiness and success was never an option.
Defenceless and broken; the demons had dragged her into darkness,
They reminded her of the heartache that her mother used to give her.
They managed to bring that back; she can never catch a break.

She promised herself she'd never be like her mother,
No matter how much she denies it; she is the spitting image of her
She has thoughts that reciprocate the words her mother always tells her.
A disappointment,
A failure,
Unwanted,
And that life would be better off without her,
She only knows how to communicate through gaslighting and manipulation.
This isn’t the way she should be treating her only daughter.
This girl just turned twenty yet has never seen her true colours.
She can never recover from the damage that she caused,
Depression and more, this shit seems to only get harder.
Her best friend Reaper keeps asking her to come over.
And every time, the temptation gets a little stronger.

Although her bond with death is getting tighter,
She’s met some great people who are finally rooting for her.
They are fighting off the demons and finally giving her a chance,
If only they had come sooner and been there from the start.
Cause the demons are much stronger; they just keep on fighting back.
The demons outnumber them; how much longer can they last?
Eventually, they’ll tire out,
And give up on her like everyone else
And she will just end up as a memory of their past.
