HOW ACORN MAIDEN GOT THROUGH THE COLD NIGHT
Acorn maiden hit the sack
Felt a chill run down her back
Searched for linens soft and thick
Something here will do the trick
Nothing found could warm her though
Feet felt like they were in snow
Maybe dreams will find me heat
Tucked into her soft thin sheet
She took her cap from her head
Laid it down next to her bed
And her hair began to flow
Seeking out new places low
Over bedframe’s oaken lip
To the floor silently slipped
Poked between the beams and found
Hidden gateway to the ground
Acorn maiden’s hair so long
Ancient wise and ancient strong
Penetrated then the earth
En voyage for a warm berth
Past spiders and things that grow
Until reaching a red glow
There it planted for the night
Pumping heat along its height
Acorn maiden thus could sleep
Warmed by the Earth’s heart so deep
Felt a chill run down her back
Searched for linens soft and thick
Something here will do the trick
Nothing found could warm her though
Feet felt like they were in snow
Maybe dreams will find me heat
Tucked into her soft thin sheet
She took her cap from her head
Laid it down next to her bed
And her hair began to flow
Seeking out new places low
Over bedframe’s oaken lip
To the floor silently slipped
Poked between the beams and found
Hidden gateway to the ground
Acorn maiden’s hair so long
Ancient wise and ancient strong
Penetrated then the earth
En voyage for a warm berth
Past spiders and things that grow
Until reaching a red glow
There it planted for the night
Pumping heat along its height
Acorn maiden thus could sleep
Warmed by the Earth’s heart so deep
