Lady Dorset (revisited 3)

Lady Dorset's maid Amanda was off to the market.
Fruits, vegetables and gossip.
The central square was abuzz with activity.
Thus next to the apple stand she found
The friendly little wench. The lovely Lara,
Fourteen going on twenty with all her maturity.
The looks of a witch with her long black hair down the small of her back,
And charcoal black resplendissant eyes.
Already she knew about some very special plants
Which could cure or kill.
'' Hello 'Manda''
''Good day, sweets, how are you?''
''Fine, thanks.  Managing, actually'', said with a sombre tone
In her voice, as well as sombre looks in her eyes and on  her face.
''What's wrong then?''
Lara was hesitant about speaking badly about her master,
Lord Harrington but it was as if she was at wits ends.
''Things are getting very difficult around him.
So much so that I am thinking about going back to Aunt Hilda
In the forest''.  She paused, hesitant,  '' you see, people think
That Lady Harrington tripped on the carpet, fell down the stairs
And died there.  That is what he tells and that is what they believe.
That is not so.  I was in the bathroom, cleaning,
When I heard him shouting, screaming at her and calling her names.
He then slapped her.  That is when she lost her balance and
Fell down the stairs.  He is a very violent man''.
''Oh, dear.  But he looks so very nice and pleasant,
Always so smartly dressed as if not even a speck of dust
Would dare approach him''.
''Ya.  I think you'd best tell your mistress to be careful.
I know he's lurking around her''.
Amanda was shocked.  She would tell Lady Dorset of course.
Also considering the enormity of this  criminal act,
Lady Dorset might want to talk with her friend
Lady Paddington, whose husband always liked to do a bit
Of sleuthing around.
