The last days of earth (postponed)
sunlight and coffee
jasmine in the air
my favorite chair
holding hands
with the world at our command
laughing like children at play
we made it to another day
how cool is that
the survival of our habitat
the nightmares seemed so real
angst is all I feel
until I see your eyes
smiling at our demise
extinction denied yet again
love truly does remain
lust our refrain
drinking coffee together
sitting in the sun
the nightmares are all done
for I have found the one

If only we would see that living is a prayer and the sharing of our bodies and the love of our flaws are sacraments worshiping our humanity. On good days I see everything is connected but on bad days I despise people for throwing away the gift we were born with. Hugs.

I really enjoyed the hopefulness and upbeat tone of how love can pull us out of the angst, pain, and nightmares. (that and coffee ;) ) I love the picture too, it really set the stage. We are all a bit crazy aren't we.

You are so accurate in your perception of this poem. My three favorite lines
1&2) "how cool is that
the survival of our habitat"
The survival of our habit = the world of love + the angst of losing love in the night. There's a lighthearted desperation [from outside the poem, the narrative i mean] that draws me to that line.
3) "smiling at our demise"
Again lighthearted laughing at the desperation [this time from inside the poem - character derived] because they know the love will never die. Plus, loving someone for their flaws [insecurities] is love that will last.
Just my thoughts, one girl to another.
Oh, yes we are all crazy when the world worships derrieres and fairy airs, only the insane will remember what love is.
