“Wildflowers aren’t meant to be cut and tamed. They’re meant
to be loved and admired.”—Anthony T. Hincks

no less perfumed
than those that thrive
at home
thou art consumed
where wild winds woo
thy tome

the casual glance
scarce sees sure signs
of life
till when thy dance
bright by-brooks brim
with fife

thy radiant grace
but by base brush
untouched
sates deep-wined tastes
food for faint folk
unmatched

thy whisper is
suave song soft-sung
at eve
lost in thy kiss
so sweet, so strong,
i cleave

what lackest thou
fresh, full, fault-free,
unspoiled?
compelled, i vow
thine thus, this thirst
uncoiled

thy chastity
poised, prized, proud, pure,
sublime
bids me break free
to tame thy tone
and time

and might i rest
where wits wax wise
and keen
the night knows best
sweet sleep shall shield
my queen
