.....For I Have Sinned (leave a Tender Moment Alone)

"I heard she sang a good song
I heard she had a style
And so I came to see her
And listen for a while........."

…..and I ask forgiveness
for I have sinned
a solitary confession.......I'm in love
with my closest and dearest friend

(whispers-"leave a tender moment alone" )

I will protect “us” until the very end
standing inside the boundaries
closing up my heart; never to offend

…...afraid to take the chance
to ever let her know
to never tempt “the reason”
I can't ever let her go

“she's in my heart, she's in my soul.........”

penultimate verses,
the house lights come up
it's time to go
I celebrate her performance,
my soul softly dying
she passes by me, with the other's moving to and fro

my mind recalling an errant verse
drifting on a memory divine,
unscripted; unrehearsed
unabated and all mine

“I felt all flushed with fever
Embarrassed by the crowd
I felt she found my letters
and read each one out loud
I prayed that she would finish
but she just kept right on.......”

and the softness of her hand
caressed my shoulder
tenderly, slowly raking her
long nails across my skin

and I'm feeling this deep connection in her touch
that I thought only I could ever know......

in the simplicity of a moment, sometimes
“that's the way love goes” (maybe I should just leave a tender moment alone)

“Strumming my pain with her fingers
Singing my life with her words
Killing me softly with her song
Telling my whole life with her words

Killing me softly with her song.......”

…..begging forgiveness for once again I have sinned
