Falling Toward Eternity So Young

Falling toward eternity so young.

The door she must pass
is a wall of fire caused by the acts of others.

Seventeen years were in the making of her,
only to be extinguished in an instant.

I once kissed a girl much like her,
soft and kind to the touch.
What rich fantasies went unfulfilled
in her dying beauty! What wishes went unmet?
What new lives might she have born in time.

All of us will be consumed in fire, but not so soon as this!

Author's Note
I came upon a car crash and saw a girl trapped inside. I still have visions of her falling toward inevitable flames.
