Worshiping a Portion of Creation

Two slender columns brought you great distances to be here today. I kiss your feet, thankful for their travels, but knowing they’ll carry you farther still in tomorrow’s light.

I kneel and embrace your waist, pressing my ear against your stomach. There it is, the whisper of your heart. My fingers match the tap-tap, tap-tap of your life, and I hear a faint laugh resonate through your warm custard frame.

As your well-traveled legs spread, my tongue finds the salt of ancient springs. Oh, to swim in the oceans flowing within such arching flesh! In you are all the blessings of creation!

Once I have sipped from your budding lives, press your lips over this fountain passed from my father. Raised and firm as is its custom, may it become a conduit of my purest desires for you. Trap me in your moist warmth and hold me there. I bow and place my palms over your shining strands to feel your heat.

What mysteries lie within?
What thoughts and memories fill this sphere now giving such pleasure?
Tasting my salty fountain, do you share my fear of the unknown?

You are a most miraculous portion of creation, but today, I only touch a part of you.

Author's Note
Thoughts while reflecting on a past love. She was a distance runner and couldn't remain in one place for long, but I loved her.
Thank you to Journeychase for her poem Drink Me that instigated this reflection.
