No Reason

She was always a shy child
quite reserved actually
pretty too, with lovely hair
and good grades at school

She was never any trouble
apart from the time she threw
a brick off the bridge
over the freeway
I expect she was egged on
in a dare

It bounced off the roof of a truck
and that was the end of it
there was no damage
no-one was hurt
but she was upset by what she'd done
ran all the way home
and blurted it out--
sensitive you see, just like her Mom

We had no idea what was going on

She spent most of the time
up there in her room
on Facebook and TikTok
but then that's what most kids do
these days, isn't it

We had no idea
she'd do anything like this

not hang herself
for no reason.
