Unfathomable
Vaccines?
They're for the weak-minded,
spineless wimps.
Mass hysteria
fomented by big-pharma.
Global pandemic?
Clearly, a leftist fairy story
like Peter Pan.
Besides, longevity
runs in my family.
Grandpa lived 104 years.
I'll admit,
I'm a tad needle-squeamish.
What's that?
What about my loved ones?
I have but one.
Oh and I'm a lucky son-of-a-gun
Just this morning
I walked 13 times
under a ladder,
on broken mirror shards,
whilst screaming,
At the top of my lung
Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth!
Much to the consternation
of the black cat cradled in my arms.
And I'm right as rain
I do take precautions.
Why every morning
I right-religiously take
equine steroids with a shot of bleach.
And I feel grrrrreat!
Accept for the persistent cough
…and tasting and smelling, overrated.
(In garbled whisper)
Excuse me doc…
before you do
what you're gonna do,
with that tube,
I'll take that vaccine now.

Sometimes I just have to express my thought s with gallow's humor. I am frustrated and saddened that so many of our fellow life travellers' lives continue to be cut short.
It seems these days that stubborn pride and selfishness trump common sense and love.

I agree completely with your think globally act locally philosophy. People are just so loath to follow a good example...but that doesn't give us license to not at least try to influence others to do the sensible things.

You "be careful out there reminded me of one of my favorite police dramas when I was a kid, Hillstreet Blues. The duty Sargent always ended the daily roll call with with "let's be careful out there."😁

Ha ha...I forgot the "let's roll part." That show has one of my all-time favorite theme songs. I was truly sad whe the actor who played that sargent dies while the ashow was still in production. What a tough job you uncle has. He's genuinely worthy of that admonition on a dail;y basis.

Your poetry had me in stitches and nodding along in frustrated solidarity. You make such amazing and cleverly crafted points, that I was almost cheering along, reading. It amazes me that playing politics is STILL what's seemingly most important, surrounding covid and all that entails. It doesn't get anymore real, as far as disgust, then in the state of Florida. I swear, the rest of the world and the rest of the country is light-years ahead of where my badly badly BADLY run state is. The colossally horrid governor/ State (sometimes local) Legislature really has had a terrible impact upon the state's economic climate as well as the safety and health care of it's residents. It's embarrassing, enraging and so defeating, at times. I'm sure TX is close behind.... in all that I've described...
