Alone (villanelle)

For loneliness is not my chosen domicile
as I remain, prone to fates cruel twists
but my heart would go the extra mile

I seek affection, as would a child
my all would sing like an evangelist
for loneliness is not my chosen domicile

To crave the hug of arms, not be reviled
the waft of perfumes colour missed
but my heart would go the extra mile

Stand abandoned, alone, no sense of pride
a single setting, ever to persist
for loneliness is not my chosen domicile

Fickle fates, it seems, I somehow riled
loves labours lost, with no conquest
but my heart would go the extra mile

God only knows how hard I tried
amour for me, was never on the list
for loneliness was not my chosen domicile
but my heart would go the extra mile
