aw ty sugah *hugs* I really appreciate the warm welcome. I was struck down on my bicycle by a truck back in April. I was mostly healed in a couple of months, but I have a persistent injury to a tendon in my hip flexor that makes sitting up at the laptop painful, so I've been trying to stay reclined as much as possible and let it heal. Probably as healed as it's gonna be, at this point. I'm glad see to everyone here again. Some are gone, some remain and new faces abound. Such is life, says the French.

First, I really enjoyed your creative process. B&C might have had their work ethics seen in an unconventional light, but you can’t argue their love story. Psychotic as it may have been it was the ultimate on many levels. The connection you write to that level is where the creative part steps in. Romeo and Juliet, Cleopatra and Marc Antony, Mike and Carol Brady- all obvious love stories. The creative eye pulls the threads in a complete 180 and I like that. There’s no real love without pain and suffering. At least that’s what I’ve found and that’s what I connected with in this piece. As per, totally dig the font and format. Wonderfully written. I love that you enjoyed my creative process, it's quite chaotic :p and things just hit me like a ton of bricks but somehow I survive to try again. Indeed, you cannot argue their love story and in typical me fashion that's the one that came to mind but alas this needed those dark elements to illustrate the trials of such love, how dangerous it can be, and how many things challenge and try to tear you apart. All great love stories for sure and have me thinking... With such strong emotions I think pain and suffering is definitely part of the equation. Loving that you dig the font and format as always! The last stanza makes this poem remarkable--
Whereas most of the poem up to this point has been interesting--the story of love bound by social transgression, to the point of being condemned to death--yes, that interests, and the insight that such transgressive behavior is "like" the deepest love, it remains mostly illustrative.
There's a shift to different register, emotionally, at the end of the 2nd stanza / beginning of the 3rd--and it jars, intimates something dangerous, dark, the kind of darkness that's interior, unseen, rather than external. Yet this first shift, this turn

Is it fun for you?

You never asked why
They will find us
This is not a game

Leaves this reader a little confused. The intent is unclear. The emotions, while obviously pitched, are hysterical, too much, as the French would say, the meaning obscured by the feedback of the emotional intensity.
However, the turn in the 4th stanza is unequivocal, implacable, even; as close as you can get to a scream, yet undistorted, crystal clear:  this is the vortex of passion that consumes, first visually, then psychically, then spiritually. A warning, CAVE!

Hey Mark, as always your in-depth thoughts never disappoint. I cannot claim deciphering me is ever easy but you seem to like a challenge. ;) I love how succinctly you have described the aspects of love, transgression, and being condemned to death almost as if because of such a deep love. The interior darkness is definitely there, as is the external darkness in my mind. I love your breakdown regarding the shifts. Ah, the French do say things so beautifully. The first part you reference definitely pertains to the strong reckless passion and freedom found in it. The second part is more about the external factors but there are multiple ways to interpret for sure. I could go on for a long time so going to keep it short. My emotions are intense so I suppose that always carries in one way or another. ;) I absolutely love the final part of your feedback. The 4th stanza is definitely the glue that holds everything together and your description is just so perfect. 'visually, psychically, spiritually' - just perfect... Thank you so much for reading and sharing your thoughts. They are always so helpful. ☕
