Night Gallery
night songs breakthrough the still of night
sending chills down the spine of this book
shadows staring from the otherside
as the gallery opens, let's a take look
canvases smudged with a smooth stroke
as the brush smears the colors
we are all but abstract, shades in the dark
as harpsichords play ghostly notes
pictures stare from marble walls
their eyes make the blood run cold
these stories will make you quiver
you'll get the shivers, walking these halls
as the night gallery opens,
their eyes see all
in this world that's black-n-white

Author's Note
I remember when I was growing up watching old reruns of Twilight Zone and The Night Gallery and thinking what kind of person could create these stories...be they scary stories of the Twilight Zone or The more Sci-fi tales of Night Gallery...I personally always thought Night Gallery was scarier of Rod Sterlings creations...I think there will never be another show that brought the creep factor then Twilight Zone and Night Gallery...being that it is almost Halloween I felt compelled to write this Dark Poem

Oooooo absolutely LOVE the imagery! I was thinking of the smudges and smears as blood. 'we are all but abstract, shades...' such a great description that conjures all sorts of ghostly images with the harpichords notes playing in my head. Marble is so beautiful and a perfect backdrop for that blank evil stare. Such a wonderful tribute to these classics that can never be reproduced. I want to watch some episodes now. I love Masters of Horror and Outer Limits and Tales from the Darkside. Definitely a great write for Halloween; one of my favorite holidays.
