Image for the poem Poets are like butterflies

Poets are like butterflies

butterflies fluttering...

wings the color of salmon
landing on a grey stone wall

like graffiti they paint their life
painting the wall a shade of rose

she stands gazing...motionless
dressed in her gown of white
as her honey-blonde hair

draped over her shoulders
like a white orchid dancing
in the twilight...

blush of pink blossoms
upon her cheeks, honey on her lips
eagerly waiting to be kissed

as the water is poured by Aquarius
she tumbles into the high grass

as hummingbirds hum about,
the birds and the bees...

flit from flower to flower sipping
sweet nectar, like a wasp
laps with his sharp tongue

for poets are like butterflies
we find the grace in words

as we craft our stories
watching bluebirds fly

Author's Note
I am finding this rebirthing process quite liberating to me poetry is all about the art, not a popularity contest...sometimes you have to take a break from the humdrum and the norm, and branch out your horizons, rediscovering the love of the written word again...yes this does have a hint of sensuality but a hint is enough sometimes don't you think
