Golden Boy

For years I worshipped you from afar

Never knowing who you are

A golden sculpture come to life

With eyes like an aqueous paradise

Of stillest blue

Such shallow pools

 That never gazed into mine

Never even cared to look twice

Golden boy, more golden still in name

Wearing your favour and your fame

Like tailored suits

In popular hues

Golden boy with heart of gold

But a world so polished, prim and cold

Light years from mine

And my bohemian life

And so the golden boy

Stays in my silver past

And so I move on at last

To deeper joys.
