The Human Flaw
the divide between us is way too deep
don't think we'll ever come together
to fight our true enemies
black lives matter emerges
so they say all lives matter to combat it
support the blue, like don't you?
well no shit
I just don't support murders
whether they wear a bag or not
damn colored people
always causing problems for the officers
or is it the other way around?
and I'm somewhere in the middle
not black or white
so basically I'm a nothing
no one's talking about my injustices
which is fine
progress is progress
even if the progress ignores my needs
personally if you ask me
I say no life matters
not unless you got money and power
if you're not rich then you're struggling
people hating me for my skin
well that's just a fucking given
scary brown Mexican
best clutch your pearls, bitch
but let me tell you
if I had cash
that would make me look pretty sexy
to a lot of fine ladies
maybe I would have some of that money
if it wasn't for all that segregation
I know, I know
pull myself up from my boots
not complaining, just saying
guess in my mind
injustice is injustice
something some of you caucasians ignore
because that would mean your granddaddy
wasn't so great
starts to make more sense
when you see everyone can be a bully
but it's ok to condemn some actions
while also appreciating others
history is filled with ugliness
but progress doesn't happen
if we don't learn from the past mistakes
just my view
that means nothing to anyone
because in this new world
we are all out for ourselves

my selfish ass is all that matters

A poem I wrote around the BLM movement. I never released it. Not sure if I just felt it was too opinionated. I was reading it today and thought I would release it.

It’s good to see poems in this subject matter approach things from a sensitive and well constructed way. I hate poems that shout more than they listen - this doesn’t do that.

I think we all get angry for different reasons. When we are angry it is hard to listen, or think things though.
