89 Shots

89* people in America are shot to death everyday
what more do i need to say

It is a tragedy beyond sorrow
living in Chicago i wonder if i will see tomorrow

If it were up to the NRA
things would just remain the same way

Now, is the time for caring people to stand up and fight
before another American goes silently into that good night

Author's Note
Kudos and credit to Dylan Thomas and his poem “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night”. The use of the “i” is an homage to the Poet E. E. Cummings I wrote this back in 6/2016 and sadly it is still true today!
