Last Day of Summer

crickets and mushrooms
September rain
last day of summer
Moon's on the wane

first thing tomorrow
autumn arrives
goodbye to everything,
except what survives

daylight's reduction
temperature's too
here by the mountains
under the blue

gaps in the fluffy
clouds drifting by
gifts from the ocean
which is nearby

bears in the forest
ravens above
preparing for winter
a season of love

a season to cuddle
to warmly embrace
the cycles of living
which we all face
