TRUE BLUE

Waking up everyday
Wearing the uniform
To serve and protect
Reporting for duty
Investigating complaints, crimes and other incidents to keep the communities safe

However not everybody with a badge treats it with the honour it truly deserves
Those criminals in the force destroy the work of those good few who are still left
To the point where people look at them with mistrust
Never able to speak out even when in distress
Letting all sort of things slide
While handling this and that on the sly

When a mother saw her son join these crime fighters she had pride and joy
But at his death she was murdered and died with him too
She only existed in the physical realm but her divine presence accompanied him too
The arrival of the captain and top brass to her home never comforted that broken spirit
No assurances when investigations concluded with the apprehension of suspects
The killer cops who were the colleagues of her son
She was crushed even more having contacted them all along
Ever since that day when they came to her apartment and took him on a ride to the party
The invitation he had initially refused
It was at their insistence, urging and peer pressure he later reluctantly accepted
Undoubtedly aware of the calibre and character of the company he’d be keeping
As fate would have it
This young man’s body was discovered buried on a yard in a shallow grave

An event that his mother never recovered from
Her son being the only child she had ever had
Maybe without him she lost her reason for living
The person she loved more than anyone else in the world being absent from her life
Brought with it loneliness and emptiness
There’s no way of knowing the state of her decline and loss of hope
Leading to her sudden unexpected passing shortly after her son’s death
A testament to the serenity lost that could only be found in everlasting rest

Author's Note
It is every mother's nightmare to lose their child, young or grown up. It is every parent's wish to see their sons and daughters having families of their own & giving them grandchildren.

It is usually lamented that parents are not supposed to bury their children.

“Life is the only thing which can never be replaced when lost.”
