Without Desire

Swimming
in muddy waters

We search for treasures

Beneath a veil
of golden silt

Assailed and tossed

Clinging tendrils
in shifting winds

Seeking to recover
something lost

A quill of thirsty desires
draws our focus

from higher

             to lower

                   But the universe conspires
                   lending her ink

                   Agilely guiding
                   the verses we write

                   The travails of our labor
                   shall birth First light

                   Revealing the face
                   sans birth above death

                   The face of no face
                   our luminous Self

                   The treasure we sought
                   acquiring true wealth

                   Ne’er again to compete
                   with straggling Desire

                   Who sinks entangled
                   in her own quagmire
