Maybe
There is no representation
for the Four-Footed
at any sovereign table;
neither is there a place
for the Feathered-Wing
to perch, void from bullet;
nor Finned-Fish to swim
free of baited hooks;
or, Earthen-Heartbeat
to drum her voice
Man considers himself
superior, but we are not
separate from Nature
One day we'll understand
that we occupy space
as everything in Creation
And, as everything in Creation
are just as susceptible
to Nature's destruction
Maybe it won't be too late

So very deep, such is the every trip into your mind my dearest, I’m thinking like for real… MAYBE more should “see” as you do when one’s mind is in tune with one’s soul… 😊

A part, not apart. I think Man is starting to get the wake-up call these last couple of years. Dropping A Bombs, nuclear arms races, and such gave man an inflated sense of superiority - an ego high - until climate change and Covid came around.
This poem easily belongs in your Top 10, but consider putting a space or two or possibly three before that final "maybe" to give it its due weight.

Well said. The piece flows beautifully from one stanza to the next.
We are all one cosmic breath and dust of the Earth. We, as in humans, do not respect the balance.
Nice work.

Prometheus was punished by the Gods for giving humans the gift of fire (knowledge?), and Adam and Eve were ejected from the Garden for eating from the tree of knowledge...hubris kills. Wonderful thought provoking poem, Tam.

Beautiful. I certainly hope we can all recognize and learn to love our oneness with all things.... it's really the only path to contentment and peace, isn't it?
❤k
(Note - you have a their/there in the 2nd stanza, it doesn't seem like something that would be intentional)

Dear A,
I echo all the above comments by my esteemed poets. I read and re-read this poem in total agreement of these intuitive observations. It did get me to thinking though, as part of the human race and therefore a party to human arrogance of sovereignty over the planet, I, sometimes, feel as hunted, unwelcome and out of place as my furry, winged and
fin-ny counterparts. Where is the universal harmony I keep hearing about? Where is all the love and compassion for all things great and small? Bright and beautiful? Wise and wonderful? This is exhausting. But I guess this keeps us in good poetry except that yours is great. H🌷

And I couldn't agree more....
Man doesn't seem to realise that by destroying nature for his own selfish needs he in fact is writing destruction of his own species ... Man will be wiped off the face of the earth but nature has it own way to bounce back... It will eventually reclaim its territory...
Great spill, dear poetess.... Thanks for sharing

Wonderfully done A.
You masterfully establish the man made snares, which nature is subjected to, without any consideration for anything but selfish needs.
... Into a contemplative narrative, which makes one think about the things that we might have some control over. Or at the very least, begin to develop our wisdom and empathy, expand our consciousness.
... Also makes one think about how, even within the development of such consciousness, we are as much ensnared by the humans as the animals.
A most poignant realization.
Nicely done.

I think that man’s disposability is a tough concept for people, especially in the modern age, in the west, to wrap their heads around. We live lives of such relative comfort and luxury that we can’t imagine a time when there won’t be any television programmes playing, websites to visit, shops to go to, etc. Thank you for the thoughtful poem.

I can't help but feel the ominous effect on this piece, the consequences of humanity not taking care of the environment and that somehow Mother Earth will take it back. I fear that when that day comes, us who live in the city won't know how to survive with the basics, then all the little animals will inherit the earth.
Excellent work.
Excellent work.
