SOUND THE ALARM

A few months ago when depression would take over like a demonic possession, my walls would crumble and I’d let it in.

He watched as everything about me started to change, it was obvious I was different.. it was clear that things were strange.

I stopped.
Eating.
Laughing.
Sleeping, and enjoying things, but I never stopped talking.

Even though I wasn’t in control, I still used my words to warn him of the war inside.

I spoke of it, as if it were a normal conversation, but could never ask for salvation.

He didn’t even try.

How could someone with sight be so blind?

The truth is I know that he saw the dark clouds surrounding me, I know within my words he felt the plea.

He clicked the button on the remote every single time and unacknowledged it all.

It may not have echoed through the corners of this town like a siren blaring loud,
But I used my eyes and words to SOUND THE ALARM.

Soon after that he left me as if I were a small town and he was desperate to get out, at first it hurt and I started to scream my shout.

But as time has passed, I have come to realize that he left a long time ago.

He left when he sat there across the room and watched as tears flooded my face.
He left when he handed me the pills despite the confession I gave.
He left when the TV became more important me.
He left when the conversations stopped.
He left when the white lies built up and faded all the color.
He left after I read that painful letter and he grabbed the remote.
He left when told me to stop talking at all.

I’ve come to the realization that I SOUNDED THE ALARM for the wrong disaster!
