[2021] Vulture Culture
flying against the grain
of sunny dispositions
ready to dive in
their downward dog-eat-dog
stormswept spiraling;
in some circles, thriving
at the notion of you being
Dead meat! Dead meat!
---parroted, mindless
meditative mantra
begging contrast, high-lighting
that you are very much
alive and kicking
unscathed by such zingers
sewn in lightning stitches
amplifying your thunder
they meant to steal;
a folie a deux fail
at foiling you
of sunny dispositions
ready to dive in
their downward dog-eat-dog
stormswept spiraling;
in some circles, thriving
at the notion of you being
Dead meat! Dead meat!
---parroted, mindless
meditative mantra
begging contrast, high-lighting
that you are very much
alive and kicking
unscathed by such zingers
sewn in lightning stitches
amplifying your thunder
they meant to steal;
a folie a deux fail
at foiling you

I like the word games and puns in your poems. You have a playful, cockeyed style that’s very much your own, and a distinctive voice in poetry is often hard to come by. This poem feels like a riposte to the worst elements in arts criticism, the clique-y and sneering vultures with noses always upturned to scent a fresh kill.

LOL! Beautifully done! That was one of the biggest fails I've ever witnessed! I could not have said it any better than Jack!

I'll tell you a secret - I originally thought it was spelled "foile a deux" , which is what led to the creation of those lines. Thanks, LJ!

So true, so true a very descriptive description of a hater, and be careful, their foot is always out to trip you. Again tight work dude

And all it takes is a few getting sucked up in your turbines to bring down an entire jet plane. Thank you, I IS ME.

You keep blowing up minds with these spills. Now I just have to make sure I protect my eyes from anything trying to swoop in.
Outstanding work.

It's time to watch Hitchcock's "The Birds" anyway - it will make for good practice!
