circumspect alterations assail
corseted ideas suffocate
asphyxiated before taking their first breath
leaving emotional corpses

in the grander scale of things
visionaries blink open their eyes
elevating their minds beyond the corporeal
we are more than the sum of our shortfalls
the abyss hiccups want
giving birth to men and women of ideas

some fear to tread into the beyond
I fear nothingness of being
I evolve a child of darkness
appreciating the light for what it is
a shining beacon designed to enlighten

the dark a mediator to usher in a state of awareness
pain flavors the soul with knowledge
with each revolution becoming a being the gods can be one with
elevating the range of tastes and feeling

so much more complex companions
able to perceive what is before us
and less as children of the stars above our nature
