Deadline

 I'm looking around.
Trying to leave this town.
This place isn't safe.
He should take my place.
He keeps checking his watch.
Got left behind
for a deadline.
Why am I left here?
This wasn't the deal.
Won't wait for me.
Won't wait for you.
I don't know what to do.
I can't get through.
This is a mess.
You tore up the test
and threw it in my face.
This place isn't safe.
At the dead line.
That's where I'll be
waiting at the dead line.
Won't wait for me.
Won't wait for you.
Keep checking your watch.
Quit checking your fucking watch
for the deadline.
And now it's through
and I hope it haunts you.

Author's Note
This is a no brainer. You don't leave people behind to get slaughtered.
Regardless of what party is in charge.
There is a right way to do things and a wrong way.
This is soooo wrong and I was in my feelings when I wrote this.
In some small way I wanted to give a voice to everyone left behind.
And I am by no means a political person.
