A Question Of Sanity
are we all
not ‘insane’
to some extent
in an altered state
of mind
which prevents
normal perception
behavior
or social interaction
are we all
not ‘mentally ill’
to some extent
at certain times
and under certain
circumstances
are we all
not ‘shocking and outrageous’
to some extent
as perceived
by cultures
not our own
are we all
not ‘deranged’
to some extent
at times
of enormous
stress
unable to distinguish
fantasy from
reality
are we all
not ‘compulsive’
to some extent
when we
cannot conduct
our affairs
due to an altered state
of mind
which prevents
us from perceiving
behaving or interacting
‘normally’ with those near to us
in those times
when we grieve
a loss
when we are in
great pain
when we cannot
understand the horrors of life
when we are
fearful for ourselves or the ones we love
when we are
deep within ‘the dark night of the soul’
are we all
not ‘sane’
to some extent
in an
‘insane’
world
