Big Virge,
this is a bit shorter, and less rhetorically...inflated, or turgid, even, than some of your other poems, and I enjoy that--
You stay a bit more focused, and are less repetitive.
All that makes for an enjoyable read for this guy.
I like the topic, too--
A point: back in the olden times, there was much less freedom. In small hunter-gatherer or even farming societies, without banks, credit checks or police, even, people were a HELL of a lot LESS free--
If a man didn't have a valued skill in the tribe or village or whatever, he was kicked out...to die. Because survival was essentially dependent on sticking together.
And women? Well, all women were understood to be breeders, bearers of milk, raisers of children, and so on.
Also, I keep in mind degrees of freedom of speech: for example, in the great multi-culture of Singapore--4 official languages--you can be arrested and imprisoned and publicly whipped for so-called hate speech made in the privacy of your home. Even politicians like Obama would be whipped in public for public statements he made as president.
So, degrees.
Much to enjoy here!

Well, freedom, like much that humans now tout as being part of what we yearn for, and require, I call BULLSHIT on all that rhetoric now.
The Hong Kong / China situation should of forewarned people, this is not a joke, the steady removal of peoples' freedoms, it's happening, and we didn't have that many to start with.
It's all fun, and very little say, for those who stand against the ways of today, so, we shall see where this leads, but my answer to the question in the poem is a simple, NO.
