Moving On

The autumn foliage whispered pleas
upon a swift and gelid breeze
as raindrops fall from salty eyes
where cherished mem'ries traumatize.

His footsteps lined the sodden ground
where love had died bereft a sound
and there she sat in idle shock
reliving moments 'pon the clock.

No warning bells, nor nuanced clue
just loving hearts left black and blue,
a journey down temptation's lane
as eyes embibe the windowpain.

The grass was greener, let it grow,
she gave him better then he knows,
a home, a hearth, a hand to hold
a place to hide the lies he told.

But soon the sun will rise anew
to warm her skin with golden hue,
another chance to challenge fate
as aging memoirs dissipate.....
