Our Secret

When I saw you today
after so many years,
All bright and smiling
I remembered...everything
Instantly.

You looked at me as if I was
apart of your new life,the one
where demons did not exsist and fear
was dismissed with hugs and kisses.

But we both knew the truth,
I saw it in your eyes that you remembered
the truth too, you remembered what we did
and why we did it.

As you moved so gracefully, introducing your
Fiancee to all your old friends from our neighborhood

I waited...I knew you would come.
while I sat outside taking a breather
from all the excitement,
you walked up behind me

So we walked,to that spot where it all began
and ended in one night
right around the corner, behind the red brick
building across from the cemetary.

What a powerful moment,as we held hands
the ground almost rippling with energy
from the memory of that night.
wistfully, I look to the sky,and hold your
hand,careful not to look at you,careful not
to speak. Some how words dont fit this moment
"Do you think God will forgive us?" You whisper.
I dont answer,because I dont know.

I simply turn to you and say "He hurt you,
he had it coming, and he got what he
deserved,I am not sorry, I will not apologize."

With a knowing sigh, you wrap your arms around me
As we watch the sky turn from Blue to Orange, to Red

finally resolved,able to breathe,
because the world was rid of one less
Predator,one less demon,in the flesh
with a friendly face

Finaly resolved,because you were STILL HERE
happy,and smiling,living and breathing,
enjoying life,and free finaly .
As we walk back around the corner I simply say
"I love you, and would do it all again,in the
blink of an eye Sissy,"

Now we laugh as we are nearing
the voices we left behind only moments ago
leaving the past behind us,but never the knowledge.
this was Our Secret,and I am unafraid.
For only God  can judge us now.
