The crisp, cool night
looms large,
in
solitary solidarity.

Crackling wisp
&
crickets…

Possum across fence
lingers,
casts a glance
askance.

Shadow in shape
of
human
or
numen.

Bat wings break
the
shapelessness
of
air.

This
is
the
vigil

of the

solitary

individual.

I had an idea for a write about a barn & that triggered this? But I think there is something cool about going far afield of the initial inspiration.
