Every second
So afraid that life will pass me by
So scared to die unaccomplished
I need to change the world or at least try
Help others and don't be selfish
Rest is overrated
Mindfulness is overrated
Love is overrated
Smiling is overrated
If I don't leave my footprints
I will wash away
While the world continues to spin
Just enough is not okay
Time is precious
Every day is a gift
Every minute a blessing
Every second a treasure
As long as I have thoughts I have moments
moments are options
Options are opportunities
Opportunities are ways to take control
Control gives me meaning
Meaning gives me a purpose
The purpose for my thoughts
So take my thoughts to get that purpose to make that change every second, no time to rest, push forward, go forward and never look back
People fade
Life fades
It has passed me by
I went too fast

... Beautiful & thought provoking. I think that there are so many external factors that effect how we see ourselves, our accomplishments, & life's purpose. For me, those are factors also worthy of examination. It is strange to think that our feelings about ourselves may not actually be our feelings about ourselves, or, at least, this might not be the whole story.
and yet... Perception of the world is real. Perception of the self is real.
For me, the mere act of examination, in and of itself, is perhaps of a higher nature than that which we discover in this examination.
So from that perspective, anyone who examines themselves is actually on a higher level than any Earthly accomplishment.
... That is kind of far out... I would love to hear what you might think of this...
and yet... Perception of the world is real. Perception of the self is real.

I have always thought that people who think about life and it's purpose are on another level. They aren't necessarily better just different. In my poem "The water" I ask myself this exact question: is it worth it to examine life over and over again? Or are al those people who just stay in the moment right? What gives the most happiness and fulfillment? Is that even the most important?
I also think that this entire conversation already categorizes us on the "thinker's level." So maybe we can only tell at the end of our lives.

I think that life is a dynamic entity, ever changing, therefore, we do reexamine, but rather, constantly examine...
I think this even applies to ourselves, including our thoughts & memories.
Perhaps we could examine an individual molecule of our being, and see something different each time, because it is in fact... Different.
I think that those that live in the moment do not necessarily live in the moment, as the moment has oceanic depth and they hardly scratch the surface.
Perhaps each moment, like each molecule, is also ever changing, even while standing still, theoretically speaking.
So to delve deeper is to live deeper... In the moment.
Although I do see the point of "living in the moment".
Perhaps it is a balance between potential & actualization.
We exercise varying levels of potential amounts the actualization of moments.
And this we call "Our Art".
... Thought provoking in so many ways.
