Stooping Thoughts

Why should her light become my light
Her ears and eyes become my hearing and sight
Her promises alone the retardant of my might
I have sat upon these steps from morning until deep into the night

While looking to the stars and the heavens up above
Please bound my hands and feet before explaining this thing called love
Is it as small as an atom or as vast as the almighty universe
Is everything improv or do we both have time to rehearse

If scripts are being handed out I need mine well in advance
It's kinda hard for me to remember my lines living in this trance
The breaths that I breathe are labored and counted
My heart that should be mine has already been mounted

Riding the waves of the darkest of space, using loneliness as my board
The stars that I see, tiny particles of your love, become my obsession to hoard
In a quest to capture the very essence of you each one must be visted and collected
Attention to detail is a must, not a single twinkle can be neglected

As I sit here on these stoops and emotionally surf about turning your lights out
It appears to take away from you only creates more self doubt
The feelings that I feel, the words coming out of my mouth
The coldness closes in as I learn more of what you're about

Do I dare continue this exploration, possibly finding your heart, your very core
Or should I descend back to my very own depth, satisfied with less instead of more
These questions become as vast as the universe you've come to represent
Sitting here alone looking up I wonder if your love is even present
