Shadows
Shadows
Until tomorrow has come again,
Today, I remember when
I trusted my memories
As waves upon the conscious seas.
Tears of yesterday adorn
My first breath and my last,
The flesh, a dream forever worn
By the shadows I have cast.
But there is a flame upon the shore,
A wind reaching what I may become.
I fear I shall be what I was before:
The very truth I was running from.
Under what moon does life rise anew
When from this sepulcher I have gone?
Will the newborn sky be just as blue
In that unknown dawn?
Still the fire burns before the wave:
A twilight that never shone
Beyond the shadows of my grave,
Where a soul awaits my own.
