under neon blue trees
we absorbed
summers day
on a quiet
evening,
spoke about
how we both
couldn't fathom
possessive
instincts
as entangled
roots catch on
our windpipes,
how family ties
no longer serve
any purpose
laughed
at buildings
engraved in
ironic names
holding no
meaning,
watched
others walk
out of stores
paying blood
to drape sheep
over shoulders
and
how the world
often forgets
we are born
individuals
first and
foremost,
i couldn't
explain that
gush of wind
rushing over
my palms
as hands
& fingers
interlock
each other,
slowly
baring our
strange in
full bloom.
