Looking at your picture is the only way
That I can see your face from day to day
Before Saturday, it'd been almost a year
Pride won't allow me to shed more tears
17 years old, so you've got your own mind
Making conscious decisions on how to find
Time to do what it is that you choose to do
I refuse to chase after you or force you to
Those who want to will make you a priority
Means nothing to me if I gotta use authority
You will be 18 years old soon and very soon
Hopefully one day I can play a different tune

Once they reach that certain age an adult relationship with our children is different. Regardless of what they are being fed, the only thing we can do is try so one day they'll realize we were there for them.
