Rain in the desert is a real moment...
Reminds me of the monsoons & how you'd see folks ride down the road on air mattresses. The roads are of course flat in the desert.
Maybe the most poignant memory I have of rain in the desert is the smell preceding the rain. If you've smelled it, you'll never forget. Some years later I learned what it was: the mesquite trees which grew would become dry during the months of no rain. As the humidity would rapidly rise before the downpour, the mesquite wood would act like a sponge, absorbing the sudden rush of moisture in the air. The result would be a cool exhalation smelling of mesquite. It happened so quickly--maybe 5 minutes from start to finish, tops!
Like the rapid rising action of the opening lines, followed by denouement:
in the DE sert we CE lebrate RAIN
the WAY MOST
CE le brate BIRTH days
ana-ana-ana
antibacchius
dactyl-dactyl
