Break on through

"Where did the spark go?," she shouts
"Look at me!"

The heavy dark lashes remained unraised
He had ran all that distance in so few steps
And broken the barrier of no return
Yet, here he was
The fog had lifted fully at last
and through sudden clarity-

How disappointing to see
it all still just looked the same
Only with sharper edges
A cleaner cut around the colors of souls

Her whisper now:
"Your silence is like the grave."
(sinking heads mirror each other)
"Not just any grave, it is my own.
I am entombed in the hollow loss of your words."

Two hearts beating in hell

It really is all worthless
He knows it
And now she does too

Still, as some things are better left alone-
Other things.....

His shoulder is warm under her fingers
"Look at me...."
