Letting Go

You told me that you love people that are deer in headlights
It’s more like you slitting Bambi’s throat in the deep woods at night
You chewed up all of my empathy & spit it back in my face
Now I’m letting my thoughts & words be your falling grace
A conscience that I watched disappear without any trace
Only to realize it had never developed in the first place
A little girl running away from herself with so much hate
I gave you all my love something that you could never taste
Why do you cheat on emotions that pleaded everyone’s case?
Where does this guilt go that you continue to erase?

I’m letting go of this agony to fall in its grave
I’m letting go of this failure to watch it cave

I’m cremating all the memories that I ever shared with you
I will be gathering the ashes to place them in this jaded old urn

This was the emotions of my faith that was being ripped apart
