I apologize
For my white male privilege
I blame my parents
Actually
How dare they?
Work hard & raise me to do the same
And have morals & a conscience
And care about loved ones
Shame on them! How dare they?
Teach me to not discriminate
And treat all races equally
And treat women & men with respect
How fucking dare they!?
Allow me to move out & earn my way
And go to TAFE & university
I suppose they didn’t know any better
Not having the opportunity themselves
To go to university & learn about privilege
And learn about hate-speech & social media
Oh they knew about feminism, mum & gran saw to that
And I should know better given my blessings
Only religion isn’t allowed anymore due to science
And the enlightenment was supposed to have seen to that
And God hating gays was supposed to have been the last straw
And women too, he hates them don’t you know
No women priests or popes or imams
He’s a patriarchal misogynist, you know, God
Let’s apologize on his behalf & have 2 minutes of hate to celebrate

Just a quick comment to admit my utter love of your writing....I too might be a moron sometimes myself, in not understanding a big portion of what you write.... however, I always read it and ponder deep, your meanings....Yours are some of the poems that I always look forward to and I just wanted to thank you.

Aw thanks Blue, so great to have a lovely reader like you. Pretty sure I can safely bet you're very far from moronic. Much of what I write is fully or partly tongue in cheek. The moronic quip was for the closed minded who don't allow themselves to see sarcasm as humour. I think this is my longest reply ever - sorry about that. :-)
