The Watchers
We peek from the shadows and record all that we see
Forbidden from interfering, we watch, and just let things be
We are poets and writers, recluses and spies
Who know the truth, and can see through the lies
We are everywhere and we witness it all
From the building of the pyramids to Rome's great fall
We have existed since Adam and Eve from paradise were expelled
And watched as the last of the Sahara's trees were felled
We have scholars and scribes who record all in our great tome
Kept in confines of the one place we call home
In an ancient cavern hidden from sight
We've watched and recorded all of this earthly plight
We've watched how as a species we've grown
And we've watched the sins humanity must own
We've watched as history has been hidden and covered over
But our tome has the truth which one day we'll recover
Keep this in mind with all that you do
We are the Watchers
And we are watching you
Forbidden from interfering, we watch, and just let things be
We are poets and writers, recluses and spies
