it will make you feel like you were meant to be
they told me it was time for the thrill of my life
something that is hard to find
they told me i would love it till the very end
that it would become my best friend
they told me that when we meet
i would finally feel complete
they told me if i would just give it a chance
i would love that dance
they told me i would love it all
that it would bring me high and i would never fall
but.....
they never told me i would get left behind
putting myself in a bind
they never told me of the pain
that it hurt so bad i could go insane
they never told me i wouldn't dream
that i would just lay in bed and scream
they never told me of the people i would betray
just to make the pain go away
they never told me of the fear
of the many voices i would hear
they never told me i would do anything for a hit
that i would never be able to quit

I got chills reading this! Brought back so many memories from my own experiences. I love the contrast between the first and second parts. And how the word "but" flips the tone right around.
For all the bad things that come from addiction, there are also so many good feelings. That's why addiction is so prevalent. I really liked how you explored both sides here.
