Coffee Shop Geisha

Coffee Shop Geisha

“Thanks for the bagel. Could you please get me an extra slice of butter? I need three butters with my bagel.”
“If you must.” She sashays back to the kitchen with an extra swagger from frustration. Upon return, her voice is piquant from barely hidden excitement. “Can I help you anymore?”
“If it isn’t too much trouble please get me some blackberry jam. My bagel could use some sweetness.”
     “Is that all?”
“For now.” She struts like a soldier off to war and retrieves the jam. “Here, you know I wouldn’t have complied with your wishes if the game wasn’t fun for me. But really enough is enough.”
“I want an extra ice cube for my tea. It lacks a single piece of ice for proper cooling.”
“Alright, I’ll fetch it.” She brings a plastic cup with an ice cube.
“Dump it in my peppermint tea.” She pours it in like a good girl.
“There is a subtext to this game.”
“Get me some iced green tea with ginseng.”
“I won’t ask why you need ginseng.”
     “You need not ask.”
“I know what it is for but never had it specifically requested. Works better for men than women so I’ve heard.”
“Would you like to test that hypothesis? We’ll have to share each other’s results.”
“Ok, bud, next time I see you here I expect a full report, how long it took you, and so forth. Then you get a mind-blowing glimpse into female sexuality. This will be our own Masters & Johnson investigatory comparison of guys and gals.”
     “Should we keep a journal?”
“Yes, your diary will be sauce for my goose and mine sauce for your gander. Remember, this is a collaborative effort.”
“Is this experiment more than a scientific exercise for you?”
“Strangely, your ridiculous orders for absurd pastries and condiments brought out a side of me I never had recognized.”
“Care to join me for some green tea?”
“I never thought you’d ask, as a medicinal remedy for the blues.”
“Would that be the blue in your jeans?”
     “Where else hun?”
