You Lost Me At Goodbye

How do I respond to silence? I argue with the residual effect
Deciphering your eyes, your looks speak for themselves
The day you left, as I was greeted with goodbye
Father became synonymous with stranger
Blindsided by the backhand of capability
Rejection is easier when age means
Iím no longer your responsibility
As if adulthood outgrows love
Losing heart with baby teeth
Nostalgia with imagination
Forsaken to forge a bond
Past short sights future
What I canít get beyond
Gnawing on the gristle
Blossomís warning
Beauty never held
Without a thistle
Am I your joy
Or your fault
As miracle
Fades to
Burden

If actions speak our worth, have I been appraised by neglect?
Homes like jig saw puzzles, broken, pieces taken to complete
Someone elseís picture, devastation, a liarís sense of perfect
Oh the precipice of a carnal haven, indulgences self-replete

I seek rest without cover, who made the bed I lay in?
Every memory lost for words on a short sheet
Do you see me past entitlement to accuse?
Mirror, mirror, on the wall, nothing is fair
When itís our pride or the love we lose
Which to dismantle, which to bare?
My honest efforts reaching out
For a love that isnít there
Longing for you as I die
You found me where
You lost me at
Goodbye

The same doorstep where we grew
The same kitchen that I held you
The same garage you packed
The same way you left
The same way came
The same house
I drove away
I left you
All the
