no one's immune to tragedy
that day it happened
you said he tried to kill you
after he was able to violate your body
told me to keep my door locked
later he showed up knocking on my window
I let him in
he was crying, saying he was so sorry
that he loved me
heard the cops coming
and he ran out the back door
would be years later till I got to see him
when I finally did
he seemed like a better person
but how can I even say that?
as if that makes up for anything

I told you I felt our family was over
blood is blood
but with him I wanted to cut the line off
you said to forgive
that it was time we both moved on
must of been your godliness
a much better person than I ever could be
because it's hard
no, impossible
to look at you
mom and dad
and especially him

why? well, let's be real
it wasn't one night
and I'm filled with this guilt
saying to myself I was just too young
that much is true
but it's that fear that kills me
I wanted so bad to save you
take a knife
and stab that mother fucker to death
the same one who read the bible to me
when I felt demons were in my closet
the same one who played with me
when I had no friends
my fucking hero
was really just a criminal
