Original (Acrostic)
Omens came, but we all stared, our pockets full overflowing forecasts of despair
Rich and poor in apathy, sitting with our luke warm coffee in the cafe
Inching forwards to the chasm's edge, the toboggan on the snow filled ledge
Gum well chewed, all newness turned to crud, our heads in clouds but our feet in mud
Ink still wet, where signed our fate, hot air our answers, not grasp the nettle but just remonstrate
No way to break out of the maze, the monster breaking free of the egg we laid
A messiah come with original faith, lead us from the labyrinth of our disgrace
Light the way as he said he would, and give us wings underpinned with good
Rich and poor in apathy, sitting with our luke warm coffee in the cafe
Inching forwards to the chasm's edge, the toboggan on the snow filled ledge
Gum well chewed, all newness turned to crud, our heads in clouds but our feet in mud
Ink still wet, where signed our fate, hot air our answers, not grasp the nettle but just remonstrate
No way to break out of the maze, the monster breaking free of the egg we laid
A messiah come with original faith, lead us from the labyrinth of our disgrace
Light the way as he said he would, and give us wings underpinned with good
