Crystalline Phoenix

The Crystalline Phoenix
now takes flight
wind rages from its
wings, a frosty blight
giant beast spreads
it’s frozen pleasures
snow falls to the earth
like frigid feathers

Drifts form in bright
rolling burial mounds
ghosts of autumn
shriek their icy sounds
swoop through the
air in curious arcs
blinded by the breath
of brilliant sparks

Somber silence of
the now frozen dead
as the snow angels
lie in their frigid bed
how arctic soldiers
march to nature’s beat
ancient bid sits upon
its ancient seat
