Paul's Valley Train Station

Agape in a memory
A spotlight flash on a transient time
When time was made of seasons
Winter woods and Summer vines

I ignite with careful words
Aiming straight for the insider
To prove the turnstiles never change
When they lose their lonely riders

Mama and Daddy
The poets of the city
Smoke-Blue-Sky-Glass-Amethyst
Two lovers in love with the skyline
She holds the loser anonymous

Now, the Embassy Hotel windows
Keep their last anniversary
And through the smog I can feel their want
Noxious, choking out their need

Each time I make this highway
Something never new I missed
But refused to see before
As blackness mingles in with bliss

Not as a useless observer
In this hateful world I stared
But drank the noose and nectar
From the fruit of death I spared

And so far long before my time
The love that could have been their daughter
I killed with bleeding manifests
So proud to be a martyr

So how can I not say
When all that ends well does not end
I could not have shown them worthy
And sent the love I had to send.
