A Man's Bad Situation

Back in 1986, an unfortunate man was living in a bad situation. He was doing so poorly financially that he was having to live in his car and eat dog food. People knew that he was eating the dog food because he didn't have a dog.

He bought the dog food at a man's convenience store. The store owner laughed at this man and made fun of him behind his back. He made fun of him to my dad. I believe what the store owner did was wrong. If the situation had been reversed, I don't think that the store owner would've wanted people to laugh and make fun of him.

Ask yourself this question. If you were doing very poorly financially and had to eat dog food, would you want people to laugh and make fun of you? No, you wouldn't. Such a person should be pitied and helped, not made fun of. I was unable to help the man because I was only about fifteen years old at the time.

I think that the store owner should've shown more respect because the man was buying the dog food at his store. He was making money because of that man. I believe that every customer should be considered valuable. Without customers, no business can stay in business. That was something that the convenience store owner should've kept in mind. But sadly, he didn't.

In 1986, dog food cost about a quarter per can. Dog food is cheaper than people food. That was why he was eating it. I don't know what brand of dog food that he ate. I'm using a picture that I took of a can of "Ol' Roy" for this article.

I wish that he could've gotten some food stamps. Maybe he couldn't do that because he had no address for the food stamps to be sent to. I don't know why that unfortunate man was unemployed. He may have had a disability. But if you ever see such a person, please don't make fun of him or her. Give that person a helping hand if you can. I don't know what became of that man. But I hope that things are going better for him now.
